The Hunas

 

1.       The Huns were a nomadic and barberic race of Central Asia.  

2.      They were defeated by Skanda Gupta.  

3.      In the last quarter of the 5th century AD, the Hunas established an independent kingdom in the Punjab.  

4.      Toramana and Mihirakula were important Huna leaders.  

5.      In 510 AD Bhanu Gupta defeated Toramana.  

6.      Narasimha Gupta defeated Mihirakula.  

7.      The Hunas gave rise to the Kshatriya Rajaputs.  

8.      Sialkot was Mihirakula’s capital.

 

The Maitrakas of Valabhi

 

1.       They were of Iranian origin, they ruled Gujarat.  

2.      Valabhi was their Capital.  

3.      Siladitya I (606 - 612 AD) was the first independent king of Maithrakas.

 

The Vakatakas (250-500 AD)

 

1.       The Vakatakas established their power in Deccan.  

2.      Their capital was Vidarbha.  

3.      The founder of the dynasty was Vindhyasakthi.  

4.      Vakatakas were Brahmins.  

5.      Vakatakas were later defeated by the Chalukyas of Badani.
